IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) is Europe 's leading body for health and safety professionals. As an independent and not-for-profit organization, it aims to regulate and steer the profession, maintaining standards and providing impartial, authoritative guidance on health and safety issues.
IOSH Accredited Courses
The following extension courses have been approved by IOSH as an accredited academic qualification for Chartered Membership. They are specially designed for Registered Safety Officer and Professional to gain recognized safety & health qualification, or to obtain further training opportunity in the area of Occupational Safety and Health.
Professional Recognition
Graduate Member of IOSH (Grad IOSH)
Upon successful completion of all 3 extension courses, students are eligible to apply for the membership of Grad IOSH.
Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH)
After becoming a Graduate Member of IOSH, student can start the IOSH Initial Professional Development (IPD) programme in order to become a Chartered Member of IOSH.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Programme
Completion of individual extension courses may also be suitable for Registered Safety Officer and Professional to pursue CPD Programmes.
Programme Structure
To pursue the qualification of IOSH membership, students are required to concurrently undertake all 3 extension courses. Other students may consider undertaking 1 or 2 courses at a time depending on their needs and interests.
Each extension course consists of 30 hours face-to-face teaching.

Preventive Safety and Health Management
Lots of efforts have been made to prevent accidence in workplace. This course explores various preventive programmes from different perspectives including designing an effective corporate wellness programme to cater for organization needs, maximizing employees' physical abilities with a physical enhancement programme and controlling stress at workplace with a stress management programme. It also focuses on the promotion of healthy workplace, especially on healthy eating to maximize the health of the workforce. Roles, responsibilities and accountabilities of individual will be identified in accident prevention. Emphasis will be made on developing strong leadership competence and effective behaviours in driving safety culture and the required skills in enhancing communication and motivating the workforce.

Advanced Occupational Health
This course aims to equip students with the knowledge and techniques required to handle the day-to-day occupational health issues. Students will learn in-depth knowledge in physical, chemical, biological and psychosocial hazards; general knowledge in occupational diseases; simple design of ventilation system; and selecting suitable personal protective equipment.

- Noise and vibration;
- Radiations;
- Thermal environment;
- Ergonomics and musculoskeletal disorders;
- Psychosocial hazard;

OSH2100
Work Injury Management
This course explores the legal framework in Hong Kong with in-depth discussion on the liability of an employer under the Employees' Compensation Ordinance and work injury related compensation issues. Emphasis will also be placed on the concept of work injury management in a broader perspective. The essence of a comprehensive work injury management approach will be discussed to facilitate fast return to work and minimize work injury cost. Participants will be provided with ample case studies to conceptualize the major theories and reflect on their own experiences.

- Employees' Compensation Ordinance (ECO);
- Liability to pay compensation under ECO ;
- Quantum in employees' compensation;
- Quantification of compensation for different incapacity;
- Work injury management; and
- Return to Work Programme.

Medium of Instruction
The course will be delivered in Cantonese supplemented with English while the learning material and examination will be in English.
Teaching and Learning
The course is conducted through face-to-face teaching by a team of well-qualified and experienced practising professionals from the industries. Interactive activities such as group discussion, sharing session and case analysis are very much emphasized for effective learning in the course.
Attendance Requirement
An attendance of 75% is required for each course.
Assessment Method
Assessments are in the format of examination.
Certificate
A Certificate of Achievement will be issued to students if they have met the attendance requirement and obtained a passing grade for each course.

Course Schedule and Venue
Students will be attending 1 or 2 classes per week per course, from 6:45 pm to 9:45 pm , at the Hong Kong Baptist University Kowloon Tong Campus.
Minimum Entry Requirements
- Holder of the School of Continuing Education (SCE) Professional Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health; OR
- Safety Officer registered under the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Officers and Safety Supervisors) Regulations, and holds a qualification accredited as meeting the academic requirements for Technician Member of IOSH (Tech IOSH).
