Programme Aims

The programme aims at providing students with signified skills and knowledge of a greater complexity in the business. It offers an integrated understanding of Hong Kong business environment, synthesizing business knowledge while cultivating specialized competence in training and development function for developing students as training and facilitation professionals.

Professional Recognition

The Advanced Diploma in Business (Training and Facilitation) programme is partially endorsed by the Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management (HKIHRM). With this endorsement, graduates of this programme are eligible to become HKIHRM Associate Member after passing the Associate Member Assessment governed by the HKIHRM.  Please visit the http://www.hkihrm.org for further information.

This course aims to equip students with contemporary principles and practices on how companies invest in real and financial assets and how they raise funding for these investments. These decisions include long-term investments, financing and management of capital structure. Topics include:

This course aims to provide students with detailed knowledge of the use of accounting information for decision making as well as long term investment appraisal. Besides, the concept of corporate governance and its importance will be discussed. Topics include:

Employee Relations and Communication

The course aims to provide the students with the concepts of employee relations and communication. Techniques to solve the problems between employers and employees as well as ways to effectively enhance employee relations in various situations will also be taught. Topics include:

This course aims to enable students to grasp the nature and crucial elements of experiential learning and apply it to design and deliver effective training activities. Topics include:

  4. Emotion in Experiential Learning;

Effective Employee Training Design

This course aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills of the characteristics of adult learners and their process of learning. Students can utilize those principles and skills to effectively perform the role as a trainer and to design appropriate training activities. Topics include:

  1. Basics of Employee Training;
  2. Planning a Learning Programme;
  3. Planning Training Groups;
  4. Roles of Trainers in Groups;
  5. Designing Training Contents and Methods;
  6. Barriers to Learning;
  7. Designing Assessment and Feedback; and

Talent and Organisation Development

This course aims to help students develop their professionalism in human resources development with an expanded focus on coaching and performance management, employee counseling, career development, management development and organisational development. Topics include:

  1. Coaching and Performance Management;
  2. Employee Counseling Programs;
  3. Career Development Programs;
  4. Management Development;
  5. Organisation Development and Change; and
  6. Change Strategies.

Managing Organizational Behavior

This course aims to provide students with a conceptual and a pragmatic approach to understand employees’ behaviour in the organization. It equips students with knowledge and skills to diagnose different behaviour situations and necessary techniques in influencing and controlling the behaviour of employees in the achievement of individual and organizational effectiveness. Topics include:

  1. Organizational Structure and Design;
  2. Organizational diversity;
  3. Organizational Culture;
  4. Organizational Leadership;
  5. Organizational Work Motivation;
  6. Group Behaviour and Work Teams;
  7. Organizational Decision Making; and
  8. Organizational Communication.

1) Students cannot claim exemption from the electives.
2) Not all electives will be offered in each term. Please refer to the study schedule that will be issued on admission.

Students who have successfully completed 12 required courses will be awarded the Advanced Diploma in Business (Training and Facilitation).
* Students can apply for Professional Certificate in Training and Facilitationas an exit award upon successful completion of the 6 concentration courses in the Advanced Diploma in Business (Training and Facilitation) programme.

Tuition Fee: HK$37,310 for Advanced Diploma programme

Course Schedule and Venue

Classes and examinations will be held on weekday evenings and Saturday afternoons (normally two classes per week) at Kowloon Tong / Kowloon East / Tsimshatsui / Wan Chai Learning Centre.

Minimum Entry Requirements

  1. Level 2 in five HKDSE subjects including English and Chinese (and up to 2 APL subjects) or equivalent; OR
  2. Successful completion of Yi Jin Diploma; OR
  3. Holder of a relevant School of Continuing Education (SCE) Diploma or Certificate or other equivalent non-SCE qualifications; or
  4. Aged 21 or above, preferably with 3 years' relevant work experience.
