Adverse Weather Arrangements

Students should refer to the announcements made by the Education Bureau for the class arrangement under adverse weather. For details, please refer to Education Bureau Circular No. 5/2022.

 

Tropical Cyclones Warning

  1. If the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 or No. 3 is in force before class* time, students should attend class as usual when weather and traffic conditions permit.
  2. If the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Pre-No.8, No. 8 or above is still hoisted by the Observatory at the following time, the relevant class will be canceled/postponed:
    Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Pre-No.8, No. 8 or above Class / Test arrangement
    When the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Pre-No.8, No. 8 or above is hoisted Class / Test commencing will be cancelled / postponed.
    11:00 am Class / Test commencing between 2:00 pm to   5:00 pm will be cancelled / postponed.
  3. When the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Pre-No.8, No. 8 or above is still hoisted at 6:00 am, the class scheduled to be held from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on the same day will be cancelled / postponed.  If the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above is lowered by the Observatory at or before 6:00 am, classes scheduled for or after 9:00 am will continue as usual.   If Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Pre-No.8, No. 8 or above is still hoisted at 11:00 am, the class scheduled for 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm will be cancelled / postponed. If the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above is lowered by the Observatory at or before 11:00 am, classes scheduled for or after 2:00 pm will continue as usual.
  4. When Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Pre-No.8, No. 8 or above is hoisted by the Observatory, all scheduled and ongoing courses will be cancelled or suspended.
  5.  If all scheduled classes are cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, the Programme Administrator or Course Tutor will inform you about make-up classes or related arrangements in due course.

 

Rainstorm Warning Signal

  1. If the amber rainstorm signal is in effect before class* time, students should attend class as usual when weather and traffic conditions permit. If the amber rainstorm warning signal is in force during class hours, students should try to stay indoors and attend classes as usual. The School Campus will remain open.

  2. Students should not return to school when the red or black rainstorm warning signal is in effect.

  3. If the red or black rainstorm warning signal is still hoisted by the Observatory at the following time, the relevant class will be canceled/postponed:

    Red or black rainstorm warning Class / Test arrangement
    Between 6:00am - 8:00am

    Class / Test commencing between 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

    will be cancelled / postponed.

    Between 8:00am - 10:30am

    Classes / Tests that have already started will continue as usual.

    Classes / Tests that have not yet started will be cancelled / suspended.

    If students learn about the class suspension announcement on their way to 

    school, they should decide whether to proceed with their journey to school

    taking into consideration the rain, road, slope or traffic conditions.

    11:00am

    Class / Test commencing between 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm

    will be cancelled / postponed.

     

  4.  When the red or black rainstorm warning signal is still in force at 6:00 am, the class originally scheduled for the morning will be cancelled / postponed. If all rainstorm warning signals are lowered or the amber rainstorm warning signal is changed to hoisted by the Observatory at or before 6:00 am, classes scheduled for or after 9:00 a.m. will continue as usual.

    When the red or black rainstorm warning signal is still in effect at 11:00 am, the class scheduled for the afternoon of that day will be cancelled / postponed. If all rainstorm warning signals are lowered or the amber rainstorm warning signal is changed to hoisted by the Observatory at or before 11:00 am, classes scheduled for or after 2:00 pm on the same day will be held as usual.

  5.  If the red or black rainstorm warning signal is in force during the day, students should stay indoors for shelter. All scheduled classes will be cancelled, but ongoing classes will continue until the end of the class.

  6.  If all scheduled classes are cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, the Programme Administrator or Course Tutor will inform you about make-up classes or related arrangements in due course.

 

 

    * Classes include field trips and visits, etc.
