This course is designed to allow the students to appreciate the strategic role of air transport in Hong Kong. It also aims to equip them to understand the techniques and technologies used in transportation, warehousing and inventory management which are the major components of logistics management.
Topics include:
1. Overview of freight transport systems; 2. Air freight transport; 3. Strategic stance of air transport in Hong Kong; 4. Road freight transport: vehicle selection and vehicle costing; 5. Ocean freight transport; 6. The store and warehouse layout; 7. Identification of materials and inspection; 8. Stock operation checking and stocktaking; 9. Stock control techniques; and 10.
