Established in 2000, the College of International Education (CIE) is a self-funded unit of the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), offering full-time associate degree (AD), Higher Diploma (HD) and Undergraduate (UG) Honours Degree Programmes at the Shek Mun (Shatin) campus. It is a major education providing unit of the School of Continuing Education (SCE), one of the seven Faculties/Schools of HKBU. CIE currently enrolls over 3,500 students and is committed to the University’s mission of providing quality whole-person higher education with a Christian heritage. Applications are now invited for the following position:
Assistant Laboratory Officer (Ref. No.: 25260676)
The appointee will be responsible for supporting the operation of the media laboratory and teaching activities of audio-video production courses of the Division of Communication in the College of International Education. Major duties include:
- developing technical proficiency in all aspects of the operation, maintenance, support, troubleshooting, and repair for all audio-video equipment;
- assisting in the operation and logistics arrangement in teaching and practical training sessions of audio-video production when required;
- assisting in the set-up and maintenance of online platform to showcase student creative productions;
- monitoring equipment performance to ensure that equipment is operational and performing regular preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment according to manufacturers' recommendations;
- maintaining records of inventories; and
- providing technical support to creative productions and events.
Requirements:
- (i) Holder of Associate Degree / Higher Diploma with at least one year of work experience; OR (ii) Possession of HKCEE 5 passes including English Language (at least Grade C if Syllabus A / Level 2 from 2007) and Chinese Language (at least Level 2 from 2007), or at least 5 subjects attaining Level 2 in HKDSE including English Language and Chinese Language, with more work experience;
- Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, Putonghua will be an advantage;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently; and
- Proficiency in computer applications including MS Office application.
The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract ending in August 2027. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The appointee will be required to serve at the Shatin Shek Mun Campus of the College of International Education.
