Empowering Tomorrow: International Symposium on Building Climate Resilience for Generations to Come
12 June 2026 (Friday)
WLB, Hong Kong Baptist University
In 2026, Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) will proudly celebrate its 70th anniversary —a significant milestone marking seven decades of academic excellence, innovation, and community engagement. To commemorate this memorable milestone, the School of Continuing Education will host a flagship event: Empowering Tomorrow: International Symposium on Building Climate Resilience for Generations to Come, taking place on Friday, 12 June 2026.
In the face of escalating climate challenges, building resilience has become an urgent global imperative. This international symposium will bring together leaders, academics, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, youth, and students from diverse disciplines to explore strategies and solutions for enhancing climate resilience. Through focused sessions on the role of nature-based solutions, education, youth agency, and environmental psychology, the symposium highlights the importance of equipping individuals and communities with the knowledge, tools, and mindset needed to adapt and thrive. By fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and cross-sector collaboration, the symposium aims to inspire forward-thinking, actionable strategies that support long-term resilience for current and future generations.
Specifically, this symposium will
- explore the socio-ecological, technological, and policy dimensions of building climate resilience across different regions,
- foster intergenerational dialogue on sustainable development, climate justice, and long-term resilience planning,
- discuss innovative strategies and successful case studies for developing climate resilience across various communities and sectors, and
- inform future national and regional climate adaptation and education strategies.
