The School of Continuing Education, one of the seven Faculties/Schools of the University and a major provider of continuing and professional education in Hong Kong, offers a wide range of full-time and part-time programmes at the post-secondary, undergraduate and postgraduate levels for young learners and working adults. It also offers in-house training and short courses to meet the community needs and market demands. Operated on a self-financed basis, the School and its College of International Education currently employ about 400 full-time staff and 500 part-time instructors. The appointee is expected to perform the following duties:
We are building a high-performing IT infrastructure and operations team to support the School's ongoing digital transformation and future growth. We are seeking a motivated and technically capable professional who is passionate about modern IT infrastructure, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, and delivering reliable technology services that enable business success.
This role offers an opportunity to become a core member of the IT infrastructure team, reporting to Information Technical Manager, working closely with users, application team, vendors, and technology partners to maintain and enhance the School's Microsoft ecosystem, network environment, and security posture. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting day-to-day IT operations, administering Microsoft 365 and hybrid identity platforms, managing network and server infrastructure, and contributing to infrastructure modernization initiatives that support the School's evolving digital landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
- Core Infrastructure Management: Support deployment, configuration, and maintenance of Microsoft infrastructure including Windows Server, AD DS, Entra ID, Group Policy, and Intune.
- M365 Administration: Manage daily operations of Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive, ensuring service health, configuration accuracy, and policy compliance.
- Routine Server Operation: Conduct daily health checks, including reviewing logs, backups, disk usage, and service status. Perform housekeeping tasks, monitor server room equipment (power, cooling, cabling), and report abnormalities to ensure availability and proper functioning.
- Managing Network infrastructure: Deploy and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor system and network performance, identify and resolve issues to minimize downtime and maintain service availability.
- Updates and Maintenance: Participate in system and network updates and maintenance activities, including patch management and routine system upgrades.
- IT projects support: Assist with documentation, testing, and deployment activities. Contribute to initiatives such as SSO integration and system improvements.
- Perform ad hoc assignments and responsibilities requested by supervisor.
Required skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- At least 5 years of hands-on working experience in supporting Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, DNS, GPOs, Exchange & SharePoint Online, MS Teams, Intune, Cloud infrastructure (Azure or AWS).
- Solid experience in managing enterprise network environment, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure.
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity technologies and best practices, including Microsoft Defender, EDR, SIEM, vulnerability management, and endpoint protection.
- Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently manage incidents and deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address complex system issues.
- Possess solid written and verbal communication skills to both technical and non-technical audiences, and strong commitment-to-task. Proficiency in both English and Chinese is required.
- Professional certifications are highly desirable, including: Microsoft, public cloud (Azure/AWS), VMware, ITIL; CISSP is a plus.
- Candidates with more extensive experience may be considered for the position of Assistant Information Technology Manager (Infrastructure).
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written assessment.
The initial appointment will be offered a one-year contract (up to 31 August 2027). Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
