SCHOOL OF CONTINUING EDUCATION

 

The School of Continuing Education, one of the eight Faculties/Schools of the University and a major provider of continuing and professional education in Hong Kong, offers a wide range of full-time and part-time programmes at the post-secondary, undergraduate and postgraduate levels for young learners and working adults. It also offers in-house training and short courses to meet the community needs and market demands. Operated on a self-financed basis, the School and its College of International Education currently employ about 400 full-time staff and 550 part-time instructors. The School is inviting applications for the following position:

 

Project Assistant (Ref. No.: 24250351)

 

The appointee is expected to support the ECF Project "Nature Connection: First Steps into Nature – Uncharted Worlds". The major duties of the appointee include (a) assist to perform routine work of delivering the environmental education activities to students, teachers and parents of primary schools and kindergartens; (b) assist the Officer with the development of a Play-based Teaching and Learning Environmental Resource of Hong Kong biodiversity, including educational storybooks, teacher guidebook and biodiversity manual; (c) assist in data collection and processing according to the established procedures; (d) assist in project administration of project activities / training workshops / biodiversity tours / roving exhibitions / field surveys ; and (e) supervision of helpers, under the supervision of the Project Team Leader and Project Officer.

 

Requirements:

  • Possess a tertiary education in relevant trainings such as ecology, environmental studies, early childhood education, or environmental education. Fresh Graduates are welcome. Candidates with working/ internship experiences are preferred.
  • Holder of Higher Diploma or Associate Degree, or completed secondary education with some relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and supporting in organizing and delivering nature-related / environmental education programme / workshops / ecotours / outdoor activities. Physical fitness is required for outdoor work.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, communication ability and time management to work well both as an individual and as a team player.
  • Other essential attributes: positive and self-motivated working attitude, drive to progress, attention to detail, open-mindedness, strong self-learning ability, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and bilingual typing (Chinese e.g. 速成/ 倉頡輸入法 and English).

 

The appointee will be required to work on the Shatin Shek Mun Campus.

 

The appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract for around 1 year. School offers 5-day weekdays work week. Occasionally, appointee is required to work on Saturday and Sunday.

 

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
