The School of Continuing Education, one of the seven Faculties/Schools of the University and a major provider of continuing and professional education in Hong Kong, offers a wide range of full-time and part-time programmes at the post-secondary, undergraduate and postgraduate levels for young learners and working adults. It also offers in-house training and short courses to meet the community needs and market demands. Operated on a self-financed basis, the School and its College of International Education currently employ about 400 full-time staff and 500 part-time instructors. The School is inviting applications for the following position:

 

Assistant Information Technology Manager (Infrastructure and Network) (Ref. No.: 25260638)

 

The appointee is expected to perform the following duties:

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain core Microsoft infrastructure including Windows Server, Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Exchange Server, Exchange Online, Group Policy Objects (GPO), System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), and Microsoft Intune.
  • Implement, administer, and optimize Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive for Business, and associated security and compliance features. Ensure service health, policy alignment, and user access management.
  • Perform system performance tuning and resource optimization, including routine upgrades, patch management, capacity planning, and ensuring high availability across enterprise systems.
  • Monitor Active Directory, Exchange, and other critical services using both standard and custom monitoring tools. Respond promptly to alerts, service degradation, and incidents; conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date expertise in IT security, networking fundamentals, DNS/DHCP, authentication protocols, and enterprise identity management. Apply best practices to safeguard systems and data.
  • Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise-level Group Policy Objects (GPOs), ensuring consistent policy deployment, secure baselines, and minimal configuration drift across all managed devices.
  • Support IT projects and vendor engagements, including requirement gathering, solution evaluation, documentation, coordination with external partners, and ensuring timely delivery of project milestones and administrative deliverables, especially for the project activity relating to Single-Sign-On (SSO).

 

Required skills and experience:

  • 5+ years of hands-on working experience in management, implementation, support Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, DNS, GPOs, Exchange & SharePoint Online, MS Teams, Intune, Cloud infrastructure (Azure or AWS).
  • 1+ year of working experience in implementation and support of security risk assessment and audit.
  • Ability to lead delivery end‑to‑end, troubleshoot complex issues, and collaborate across security, network, and application teams.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and vendor management skills.
  • Language: fluent English; Cantonese preferred.

 

Education and certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Certifications preferred: Microsoft, public cloud (Azure/AWS), CCNA/CCNP, firewall/network security, VMware, ITIL; CISSP is a plus.

 

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written assessment.

 

The initial appointment for the above post will be made on a fixed-term contract of one year.  Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

 

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
