SCHOOL OF CONTINUING EDUCATION

 

The School of Continuing Education, one of the seven Faculties/Schools of the University and a major provider of continuing and professional education in Hong Kong, offers a wide range of full-time and part-time programmes at the post-secondary, undergraduate and postgraduate levels for young learners and working adults. It also offers in-house training and short courses to meet the community needs and market demands. Operated on a self-financed basis, the School and its College of International Education currently employ about 400 full-time staff and 500 part-time instructors. The School is inviting applications for the following position:

 

Information Technology Manager (Infrastructure and Network) (Ref. No.: 25260297)

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Architecture and delivery leadership: define target architecture, implementation plans, and migration/cutover with minimal disruption;
  • Core infrastructure build: deploy and integrate network (LAN/WAN,routing/switching, segmentation, DNS/DHCP, wireless, internet gateways), compute/virtualisation, storage, and hybrid cloud connectivity;
  • Security controls implementation: establish layered defenses across network, application, endpoint, identity/privilege, remote access, data protection, and monitoring/response; apply Zero Trust principles;
  • Reliability and continuity: design high availability, backup/restore, disaster recovery; perform testing and capacity/performance planning;
  • Operations readiness: integrate logging/telemetry with SIEM/SOAR, define patching/hardening/vulnerability remediation cycles, and produce runbooks; and
  • Governance and compliance: set and maintain standards/policies; perform risk assessments and procurement/compliance vetting; align with ITSM (incident, problem, change).

 

Requirements:

  • A recognised bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or an IT-related discipline;
  • At least 7 years of relevant proven experience in infrastructure and network engineering with production operations in hybrid environments (data center and public cloud);
  • Strong expertise in L2/L3 networking, TCP/IP, routing/switching, segmentation, DNS/DHCP; WAN/internet gateways and wireless;
  • Strong expertise in Windows Server and Linux; Active Directory/identity; Microsoft 365; virtualisation (e.g., VMware); storage (SAN/NAS);
  • Strong expertise in enterprise security controls: NGFW, WAF/micro segmentation, IDS/IPS, VPN/SASE, PAM, endpoint protection (EPP/EDR), email/DNS/web security, DLP, vulnerability management, SIEM/SOAR;
  • Strong expertise in high availability, backup/restore, disaster recovery, performance and capacity management;
  • Strong expertise in ITSM operations and runbooks for incident, problem, and change management;
  • Ability to lead delivery end to end, troubleshoot complex issues, and collaborate across security, network, and application teams; and
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and vendor management skills.

 

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written assessment.

 

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of a period up to the time of the School’s possible migration, which should be around August 2027. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

 

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
