Senior Research Assistant (Part-time) (Ref. No.: PRSCEP0009/22-23)

 

The appointee will work on a Seed Grant Funding Project funded by the School of Continuing Education, HKBU. The project is titled ‘Applying Cognitive Linguistics to teaching count nouns and mass nouns to L1-Cantonese ESL learners across different age groups’ and is aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the Cognitive Linguistic approach in teaching English count nouns and mass nouns to young children of different age groups in local kindergartens.

 

The major duties of the appointee include a) data collection with young children; b) data analysis using SPSS; c) preparation of teaching materials and data collection tools; and d) communication with kindergartens for material delivery and other matters, etc.

 

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in English / Applied English / English Linguistics or TESOL with at least one year of relevant post-qualification research experience;
  • Excellent competency of the English language;
  • Good mastery of data analysis tools including but not limited to SPSS; and
  • Prior experience with early childhood education or working in kindergartens is a definite advantage.

 

The appointee will be required to serve on the Kowloon Tong Campus.

 

Appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract until June 2023.

 

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
