The Bachelor of Nutrition and Food Sciences (Food Sciences) is designed to provide students with the practical and theoretical knowledge needed to work in the diverse health and food industry, developing innovative foods, promoting and managing diets and lifestyles for optimum health, and conducting research into functional ingredients for enhanced wellbeing.

DIVISION OF HEALTH SCIENCES
The Division of Health Sciences has an outstanding reputation amongst industry, government and community for the education of health professionals and delivery of research excellence in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of health issues.
The Division collaborates with partners to ensure innovative research and consultancy is conducted with a focus on applied knowledge in key areas of health. Students gain valuable hands-on experience, learning within modern purpose-built laboratories and on-campus clinics that service the community.
This degree is offered full-time on a trimester basis on HKBU campuses. Face-to-face lectures and online support would be provided to students. Each course is normally taught through 39 contact hour.
Company Visit – Students have opportunities to understand the operation of companies and gain insight into their future career.
Study Tour – A valuable opportunity for students to broaden their horizons and to experience Australian Culture through a series of activities and visits in the tour to Adelaide.
Workshop – Writing workshops and Interview workshops for students to sharpen their skills and prepare themselves for a job.
Upon satisfactory completion of the programme, students will be awarded the Bachelor of Nutrition and Food Sciences (Food Sciences) by the University of South Australia.

The programme is accredited by HKCAAVQ as equivalent to HKQF Level 5, bachelor’s degrees offered by Hong Kong universities. With the programmes’ accreditation status, students are eligible for below benefits:

The School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences is internationally recognised with teaching and research teams dedicated to ensuring graduates are well prepared for the continually evolving health care sector.

Students of the programme may apply for student membership of the International Food Safety Association.
The growing awareness of nutrition and food quality as determinants of human wellbeing assures graduates of employment opportunities where they can make positive contributions to public health.
Graduates may be employed by food manufacturers and analytical laboratories, as well as in the public sector. Graduates who work in laboratories are often responsible for monitoring food quality. Other graduates may be employed to develop and maintain food safety plans, develop new foods or conduct investigations into food poisoning outbreaks or food spoilage. Students may also be employed as food safety and nutrition advisers in government offices and health organizations.

To accept the admission offer, applicants must pay a deposit of HK$5,000 and the first instalment of the tuition fee. The deposit and the tuition fee paid are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Applicants for the University of South Australia Bachelor’s programmes should possess:
- A recognised associate degree/higher diploma in a relevant discipline and
- English Language Proficiency which requires:
an overall minimum IELTS score (or equivalent as approved by UniSA) of 6.5 with a minimum score of 6.5 in the reading, writing, speaking and listening sub scores, achieved in the last two years; or previous successful tertiary study in the last two years where English was the language of instruction, and in a location (such as Hong Kong ) where English is an official or common language in accordance with UniSA requirements
