The School of Continuing Education is one of the eight Faculties/Schools/Academy of the University and is a major provider of continuing and professional education in Hong Kong. With the support of “Environment and Conservation Fund - Environmental Education and Community Action (EE&CA) Project”, the School will launch a project to enhance awareness, interest and understanding of the young children community on the beauty and importance of local biodiversity and natural environment, and to cultivate children’s positive attitude in caring for nature. Applications are now invited for the following position:  

 

Project Officer (Ref. No.: PRSCE0015/22-23)

 

The project is looking for an appointee to assist the Principal Investigator (PI) of the project in the project co-ordination and in the study of evaluating the effect of environmental education activity on people perception and attitude to the environment and nature.

 

The major duties of the appointee include (a) assisting in the design and production of a Teaching and Learning Resource Package of local biodiversity in Hong Kong, including themed storybooks/ sticker & sticker pad/ lesson plans/ pictorial & photo guides/ activity sheets; (b) data collection, processing and analysis, report writing; (c) project administration, coordination of project activities/ training workshops/ biodiversity workshops/ nature-storytelling sessions/ exhibition; and (d) supervision of helpers.

 

Requirements:

  • Tertiary education in relevant training, such as ecology, environmental studies, early childhood education, or environmental education, with 3-5 years of work experience;
  • Solid knowledge in project management, social media platforms and analytic technique;
  • Knowledge in the use of Adobe Creative Cloud (eg. Photoshop, Illustrator) and webpage design, preferably with experience in organising nature-related / environmental education programme / workshops / ecotours / activities;
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Chinese and English Word Processing;
  • Strong data interpretation and reporting skills;
  • Organised, detail-minded and highly self-motivated, with good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Good team spirit with multi-tasking skills and be able to work independently; and
  • Knowledge and experience in data analysis using SPSS or other data analysis software, and graphic processing software will be a definite advantage.

 

Duration of the project: 2 years

 

The appointee will be required to work on the Shatin Shek Mun Campus.

 

The Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract for around two years until the project end date.

 

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
