SCHOOL OF CONTINUING EDUCATION

The School of Continuing Education, one of the seven Faculties/Schools of the University and a major provider of continuing and professional education in Hong Kong, offers a wide range of full-time and part-time programmes at the post-secondary, undergraduate and postgraduate levels for young learners and working adults. It also offers in-house training and short courses to meet the community needs and market demands. Operated on a self-financed basis, the School and its College of International Education currently employ about 400 full-time staff and 500 part-time instructors. The School is inviting applications for the following position:

System Analyst (Development) (Ref. No.: 25260293)

The appointee is expected to perform the following duties:

Key Responsibilities:

• Map and document interfaces between legacy and new systems, ensuring seamless integration and efficient data transfer;
• Perform various software development lifecycle tasks, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance;
• Develop innovative solutions and undertake product development;
• Create and maintain comprehensive testing documentation for complete systems, ensuring rigorous quality control and adherence to project timelines;
• Produce user manuals for users of new systems, facilitating smooth adoption and maximizing system utilization; and
• Perform other IT projects and assignments as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or related discipline;
• At least 3-4 years of relevant work experience with a focus on web application development with responsive design and system integration;
• Strong hands-on solid proven experience in the following scripting languages: Java, PHP, Python, RESTful API and SQL;
• Good knowledge of any of the following is an advantage: Docker, Kubernetes, MS Power Platform, PowerBuilder, Jira and test automation tools;
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address complex system issues; and
• Possess solid written and verbal communication skills to both technical and non-technical audiences, and strong commitment to tasks.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written assessment.

The initial appointment for the above post will be made on a fixed-term contract of one year.  Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Candidates with fewer years of relevant experience may be considered for a junior role.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
