Notes for Admission 入學須知

Before you apply, please read the programme contents carefully and pay attention to the following points: The School offers to applicants a system of credit transfer and exemption. If applicants believe that they possess a demonstrated competence (e.g. passed relevant courses in public examinations or other institutes) equivalent to the learning outcome of the course to be studied and would like to apply for exemption, they have to submit a request for exemption with relevant certificate(s) / academic report(s) when applying for admission. Transfer of credit will be considered for courses completed prior to registration in the programme and all applications for exemption / transfer of credit must be made at the time when applicants applying for admission. Late application or qualification obtained after admission will not be considered. The maximum number of courses that can be credit-transferred and exempted in all Certificate/Diploma Programmes is limited to half of the total number of programme hours. However, the maximum exemption in Advanced Diploma/Professional Diploma/Diploma programmes is one quarter of the total number of programme hours. In the case that the number of exempted/transferred credit course(s) (including the course(s) being studied) has exceeded the maximum allowance, applicant should submit explanations and approval will be granted at the Schools discretion. A handling fee of HK$200# per course will be levied on applications for exemption with public examination results or credentials from our School or other institutions. An exemption list will be posted on the notice board at our DLB office during application period for reference. For applicants who select the Fixed Study Mode, tuition fee of an exempted part or credit-transferred course(s) will be deducted from the programme fees. The deducted tuition fees which are calculated on an hourly basis proportionally will be reimbursed in a reverse order of instalment payment number. Applicants are still required to pay the full fees of 1st instalment of programme fees. The deducted tuition fees will not be reimbursed to the student concerned if he / she has withdrawn from the programme. All applications for credit transfer and exemption are considered on a case-by-case basis. # Fees are subject to change without prior notice and are non-refundable.       各位同學於報名前請詳閱有關課程內容，並留意下列注意事項: 本院備有一套豁免修讀及學分轉移的制度，申請人如已具備有關學科的學術水平（例如其他院校的學科成績或公開試的合格證明），必須提供有關證書及成績單之正副本，於入學時一併辦理豁免修讀的申請，逾期將不予受理。申請人亦可申請學分轉移，將於登記入讀證書/文憑課程前於本院所修讀的有關個別學科納入所讀的課程內，以完成所修讀課程的畢業要求。所有於入學時未申報或於入學後始獲取之有關學歷，將不能獲得任何修讀豁免。 於所有證書及文憑課程，可獲豁免修讀及學分轉移的時數上限為課程時數的一半；於高級文憑、文憑及專業/專修文憑課程，可獲豁免修讀之時數上限則為課程時數的四分之一。若申請豁免修讀或學分轉移的時數 （包括修讀中的科目）已超出限額，申請人須同時呈交解釋，接納與否，概由本院審定。 申請人若以公開考試成績、本院或其他院校成績申請學科豁免修讀，須同時附上有關成績表、證書及課程綱要，並繳交每科$ 200 #的手續費。有關學科豁免的詳細資料，本院將於報名期間張貼於思齊樓辦事處之通告版。 學員若修讀固定學習模式之證書及文憑課程，所獲豁免修讀及學分轉移之科目均可扣減學費。獲減免學費之金額按科目時數並以比例方式計算，金額由最後一期學費起開始扣減，惟申請人須於入學時繳交全數第一期學費。如學員已申請退學，尚未扣減之學費將不會退還予該學員。 所有學分轉移及豁免申請均須個別審批。   # 收費如有更改，本院恕不另行通知。申請獲批與否，概不發還。   Application Period Applications for admission are accepted three times a year in the months of November-December, March-April and July-August: Autumn Term 2008 21 Jul - 20 Aug 2008 Spring Term 2009 19 Nov - 19 Dec 2008   Application Procedure Application can be submitted in person or by mail (1) to the following locations: In-Person Application : HKBU Campus Centre DLB Office            5/F, David C. (Please mark  'Application for Admission to Certificate & Diploma Programmes' on the envelope)   Document Required: A completed application form (SCE-AF-002) and a completed application form for entry test (only applicable for English Certificate / Diploma programmes); The original or copy (1) of HKID card; The original and one copy (1) of each of the relevant credentials, (e.g. Certificate of HKCEE / GCE / public examinations; certificate(s) of the School and etc.). Application for direct entry to diploma level or exemption should be submitted with supporting documents which include transcript / results slip, certificate and course syllabus. Applications without sufficient documents will not be processed; The copy of proof of working experience (if any) One recent photograph (1.5" x 2"); A crossed cheque (2) for the application fee (3) for admission of HK$120 and application fee (3) for exemption of HK$200 per course (if applicable); First instalment (4) of programme fee by cheque (2) (if applicable); and Any other pertinent supporting documents. Notes: 1. For by-mail application, only photocopies of credentials and HKID card are required and original of credentials are requested for verification upon approval of admission is granted. 2. A crossed cheque should be made payable to the 'Hong Kong Baptist University' with applicant 's name, contact telephone number and programme code written at the back. For In-person application, applicants may settle the concerned payment (except the first instalment of tuiton fee) by either EPS or cash as well. 3. Fees are subject to change without prior notice and are non-refundable. 4. Yet, its progression is not automatic.
